Media Diet

???? The War of Rohirrim β€” I was on a bit of a Lord of the Rings kick, reading the books then watching the Extended editions. So of course I had to see this. I tried to see in theaters but I just missed it, so streamed it. I thought it was good! A perfectly fine story and I was happy to get to hang out in Middle Earth on fresh terms.

???? Weight For It β€”Amazing podcast about being fat from Ronald Young Jr. It is somehow both deeply personal and, I suspect, private feelings experienced by most fat people. Certainly a lot of yep, that’s how it is from me. It was a recommendation from a Search Engine Podcast show.

???? Flow β€” This is that dialog-less animated movie about the animals learning how to buddy up and get through stuff. Absolutely beautiful. I found it weird choice to make it a little sci-fi-ish rather than just near-future Earth. Maybe they just didn’t feel like weighing in on climate change and all that, but eh, they kinda were anyway.

???? Yacht Rock: A DOCKumentary β€” An enjoyable hour and a half such that I actually know what Yacht Rock is rather than faking like I know what it is. (It’s Steely Dan, basically.)

???? A Complete Unknown β€” I listened to the soundtrack first and was like meh Timmy don’t click for me as a fake Bob. But the movie rules. I was very into it even the mega awkward nerd dad energy of Edward Norton / Pete Seeger.

???? Silo / Severance β€” That day where Apple aired the end of Silo Season 2 and the beginning of Severance Season 2… good job. Very into both of these.

???? β€” Reading has been all self-helpy and not interesting enough to share.

  1. I had seen The Two Towers this summer in a theater through a Fathom special event. I would have liked to have seen all 3 but only worked out to see one in theaters. It was great to visit Middle Earth on the big screen. So I jumped at chance to see The War of the Rohirrim in the theater also. I loved being able to visit Middle Earth again through a different style. I felt the film was in vibe with the culture of Rohan.
