Sometimes I spot posts like Chris’ Media Diet in my RSS feed and I’m always amazed by the fact the people manage to keep up with movies and TV series and the rest of the media landscape.
I can totally see how someone posting a post like mine makes it feel like I just bathe myself in popular media. But to me it feels like the opposite, like I barely have time for any of that and need to intentionally force in some media consumption (because I do enjoy it and it can be relaxing).
I get up at 5am and out the door at 5:20am. Gym from 5:30-6:30, back at 6:40. Basic morning routing. Take the kid to school by 7:50am. Work 8:00am to some time between 3-5pm. There tends to be some after school activities and dinner and such. Bedtime starts at 7pm, done by 8pm, then I’m off to bed. Any media stuff happens if I stay up late, squeeze it in somewhere, or weekends.
I read about a book a quarter, play maybe 5 hours of video games a month, and watch 2 hours of TV a week. I do tend to YouTube myself to sleep at night though, so that might be my biggest media splurge.
