Turn Off “Save in 1Password?” Popups for Social Logins

This popup that 1Password does by default isn’t my jam:

My problem with it is that it isn’t actually helpful. If you do use the feature and save the login, instead of that popup you just get another one that looks essentially the same that you can click to log in. That’s no better! If you don’t use the feature, logging in is still just a one-click thing.

Flipping it off wasn’t super intuitive to me. I assumed it would be the an app, but in retrospect I suppose it’s a bit more obvious it’s part of the browser plugin.

So to turn it off, you open the browser extension UI, then open the Setting area under the hamburger:

Then it’s these three settings that are related to social sign ins. I don’t mind that 1PWD attempts to stop other sites log in popups, but I flip off the settings related to 1PWD trying to save or offer to help with social login.

Thoughts? Email me or comment below. Also CodePen PRO is quite a deal. πŸ™

  1. For me it’s very useful for websites I rarely log into (mostly for work), and I don’t remember if I’m supposed to use my email or Gmail auth with them. But yeah, the UI for this could be more inline-feeling.
