I got a weather warning on my computer:

It showed up on my phone as well, at about the same time.
Thoughts:
- Weird, never seen that before.
- It’s probably good that I know about incoming bad weather. Thanks.
- I was in Wisconsin at the time, would it still have given me that warning if I wasn’t? in other words, does it know where I “live,” or is it geolocating me?
- Did I opt in to this?
- Seems a little obtrusive. Are in-OS ads next?
I’ve gotten them on my phone plenty of times before (I’m often intentionally inserting myself in bad weather, haha), but that’s pretty weird to get in on the computer. I still haven’t updated to Mavericks, so maybe it’s a new “feature”…

Maybe from Google/Chrome notifications?
What happens when you click more info?
I’m not sure about Mavericks OS, but in iOS7 you can turn this and the AMBER Alerts feature on/off (both on by default) in Settings > Notification Center > Scroll all the way down.
Worth noting that more than likely you already are being geolocated – (find|back to) my mac can track your location, and your timezone is more than likely set “automatically based on your current location.”
Cool
This notification has nothing to do with OS X. It is a Google Chrome Notification, OS X Notifications look different.
Isn’t it a Google now card from Chrome.
