On iPhones, there is a setting called Silence Unknown Callers.
That’s in Settings > Phone.
It’s an important setting for me, as I get at least a couple spam phone calls a day and without this setting it makes me want to throw my phone into the ocean.
Sometimes, though, you’re waiting for an important callback from your… whatever, body shop, trial therapist, pharmacy… where you don’t have their number saved as a contact. With this setting on, I’m going to miss that call which, also makes me want to throw my phone in the ocean. I find myself fiddling with this setting with decent frequency. More so than other settings that are buried three levels deep.
It makes me wish there was one of those super-quick shortcut buttons for it.

Oh, and “Siri, silence unknown callers” works, but “Siri, un-silence unknown callers”, “silence unknown callers off”, or “turn off silence unknown callers” do not. 🤷
Nice tip from Jim:

Agreed. Also, this setting is glorious when I’m at home, but annoying when I’m traveling. I routinely miss the first call from my Lyft driver. Ideally this setting would be geofenced too.
