The Guardian Online reports:
Doctors from London University have revealed details of what they believe is the largest amount of ecstasy ever consumed by a single person. Consultants from the addiction centre at St George’s Medical School, London, have published a case report of a British man estimated to have taken around 40,000 pills of MDMA, the active ingredient in ecstasy, over nine years.

I had read this earlier on the bbc http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4874938.stm and found at least one significant difference; “much of the information on Mr A’s drug use was self-reported” appears in the bbc article. Now here’s the thing I know all kinds of guys who drank “a million beers” or chicks who “snorted 1 billion lines”. I”m just sugesting that maybe this dude is, like many substance abusers, prone to hyperbole but just to a lesser extend than most people. Like 40,000 is his 1 jillion. He just happened to be the guy in rehab who gave the highest number that wasn’t a total obvious exageration.
