I wanted to update my list from my Default Apps 2023 list, but as I went through it… I haven’t really changed anything at all. What does that mean? I’m set in my ways? It doesn’t really feel like that, it feels more like I’m pretty happy with my choices and haven’t been sufficiently convinced there are better options for me.
Random notes:
- I remain interested in Craft. The native speed might be nice compared to Notion and I wonder if a team switch could happen.
- I like swapping out RSS readers regularly, so long as they sync with Feedbin. I’ve enjoyed using Unread recently.
- My attempt to move to Safari has failed. Just too much I like about Arc.
- I haven’t given Cursor a proper go for an editor, but I’ve heard enough positive reviews I really should.
- On iOS I absolutely loved editing fun little family videos on Splice this year. It just blows away iMovie. Apple, please, look at this.
- I did find the perfect color picker: System Color Picker. No notes.
- I use Raycast, but my usage of it is extremely thin. 99% just an app launcher. My few attempts at digging in deeper didn’t go anywhere.

Also CodePen PRO is quite a deal. 🙏
