I think this list is pretty close to perfect.

With the glaring exception of Northern Exposure, which I’d write off as “I’m just a crazed super fan and maybe it’s not really as good as I think it is.” Except that #1 is (spoiler alert) The Sopranos in which they write:

[it kicked] off a golden age when suddenly anything seemed possible. With The Sopranos, David Chase smashed all the rules about how much you could get away with on the small screen.

Northern Exposure was also David Chase and had that hour-long, ensemble cast, quirky plot, one-long-plotline thing. Maybe it was NX that really kicked off that golden age.
