Chicago went nuts last night after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup for the first time in 49 years. I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, but you could hear people taking to the streets, lighting off fireworks, and most off all just driving their cars around honking their horns.
I was thinking the exact thing to myself when I heard a kid underneath my window talking “This is bigger than when Obama won.”
I have to say it was a pretty proud night to witness after playing hockey in Chicago all of my life. Taking a pass on the celebrations on Friday, which is okay because we’re pumped for the Convention at the end of the July. I guess this whole run for the cup has been pretty good for the city financially, and we really need all the help we can get these days. ;-)
